Nature

Playa Quilombo is located on a peninsula. On one side it has one of Guatemala’s nicest beaches on the Pacific, on the other side the Chiquimulilla Canal. There is plenty of space, tranquility and privacy. It is the perfect spot to enjoy nature: the beach, the sea, the canal, mangroves, birds, turtles, sunsets, and lightning storms over the sea in rainy weather.

Action

To enjoy your stay, you can play in the ocean’s surf, walk on the beach, visit the mangroves, fish in the canal, go out to sea with a fisherman, and even keep an eye out for a turtle!

You can swim in the hotel pool, kayak on the canal, play beach volleybal or table tennis, spot dolphins, drink cocktails as the sun sets and gather around a campfire on the beach at night.

Cabins

We count 7 independent cabins: 3 of our cabins are situated towards the beach and 4 are located underneath palm trees, near the canal.

Each cabin is a detached house with a private bath and porch. There is 1 double and 1 single bed. If required, we can put an extra mattress for a forth person.

The bungalows have a wooden floor, bamboo walls and a thatched (palapa) roof.

Large rooms

The upstairs of the main building has 3 spacious rooms, with wooden floors and walls, and a thatched (palapa) roof.

They share a bathroom and large balcony with hammocks and tables, making it an ideal space for large families or group of friends.

Each room has 1 double bed, 1 single bed, and 1 pull-out bed.

Basic rooms

On the ground floor of the main building, near the restaurant, there are 4 basic rooms. Enough to sleep, leave your luggage, and enjoy the place.

Two rooms have 1 double bed while the other two rooms are twins with 2 single beds each. All of these rooms share a bathroom.

Restaurant and bar

Playa Quilombo is managed by a Belgian-Mexican couple, with the help of local people.

The restaurant provides a daily menu of local and international cuisine. Customers describe our food as simple, hearty and with rich flavor.

For breakfast we serve “Típico” (eggs, beans, cheese, platano), hotcakes with fruit, fruit, or other requests. With juice and coffee or tea.

For lunchwe offer a seafood option (fish, shrimps, squid), chicken and vegetarian dish. With natural beverages.

For dinner we provide pork meat, pasta, fruit, burritos or quesadillas. With natural beverages and coffee or tea.

The bar is open all day and offers soft drinks, smoothies, beer, wine, cocktails and liquor.

We cater for people with special diet and give specific attention to toddlers.

Location

The hotel is located on an island between the Pacific Ocean and the Canal of Chiquimulilla. At 161 km just 2.5 hours by car from Guatemala City and then 20 minutes by boat. We offer boat transportation from the pier in La Sarampaña to the hotel.

If you travel using Waze, select “Las Lisas, Chiquimulilla” to arrive at the right harbor.

Transport

Our transport company, Quilombo Driftin', offers private travel arrangements, both from and to our hotel, as well as other requested destinations.

If you prefer renting a car, we recommend Alamo.
